What “Topped Out” Means

A building is topped out when its structure reaches its full height. By then the riskiest part of construction is behind it: the foundations are in, the frame is up, and what's left is the skin and the interiors.
For buyers, it's the moment you can stand on your own floor, see your own view, and plan your move with some confidence. It's also often when the developer raises prices on what's left.
